Oh, have we got a video?
What’s there to say? Yes, We’ve Got A Video! is a blog all about music videos.
Not just music.
Not just video.
A music video is a short film or video that accompanies a complete piece of music/song. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a [marketing] device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. Although the origins of music videos go back much further, they came into their own in the 1980s, when MTV based their format around the medium, and later with the launch of VH1. The term “music video” first came into popular usage in the early 1980s.
So now you know what’s up. Good, bad, amazing, horrible – it’s all covered here.
But what of the writer of said blog? Well, that would be David.
Hullo! I’m David – and yes, I’ve got a video.
I’m twenty-two years old, a Bachelor of Journalism graduate, a musician and a writer. I have been a nerd for the music video since around the age of seven, when I awoke one Saturday morning at 2am and wandered out to my living room. The music video show rage was on, and I sat there, entranced, for a good four hours watching video after video.
All these years on, here I am. Not much has changed – I have a beard and I’m considerably taller, but the seven year old that was infatuated with music videos then is still very much alive inside of me.
It’s with this that I put together this blog, and I sure hope y’all like it.
If you have any suggestions at all for videos – perhaps you’re an artist with a new video, or you remembered an old video that you loved – please get in touch! I’m available on firstname.lastname@example.org, so don’t be a stranger now!
Thanks very much. Really, anyone reading this blows my little mind. So THANKYOU!
