Rest in Peace Adam “MCA” Yauch

How cruel fate can be sometimes. Just yesterday, we were celebrating the videography of the Beastie Boys, one of the most influential hip-hop acts of all time.

Today, I wake up to the news that one of the group’s members, MCA, has passed away after a lengthy bout with cancer.

Obviously, nothing that we’re going to say here will even come close to expressing the greatness of MCA as a person, not to mention how much the Beasties have meant to so many people around the world, including countless musicians. They’ve been a part of my life for fourteen years, and I can’t imagine my life without their music – and particularly their videos.

All we can say is a huge, huge thank you to Mike, Adrock and dearest Adam for the legacy they leave behind. The beat goes on.

We’ll be back to regular posting on Monday, but until then I implore you to play your favourite Beasties record as loud as you possibly can. I’ve got Hello Nasty going at the moment and it feels so right.
